WINNINGER, SOLOMON
WINNINGER, SOLOMON (1877–1968), biographer. Winninger was born in Gura-Humorului, Bukovina, and worked as a post office official in Czernowitz (Chernovtsy) until 1941. In 1950 he settled in Israel. Winninger's Grosse juedische Nationalbiographie (7 vols., 1927–36) contains 14,000 biographies of prominent Jews.
